Tradition: Modern Kadampa Buddhism

Modern Kadampa Buddhism is a special, practical presentation of Buddha’s teachings that is particularly suited to the modern day. It was introduced into contemporary society by the world-renowned meditation master and scholar Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Modern Kadampa Buddhism preserves the meaning and intention of Buddha’s original teachings while presenting them in a clear and systematic way that anyone of any nationality, age or gender can easily understand and put into practice.

Description: Kadampa Buddhism is a tradition of Mahayana Buddhism founded by the great Indian teacher Atisha (982-1054). Ka refers to all of the Buddha's teachings, and dam to the special instructions of the Lamrim, the stages of the path to enlightenment, which Atisha taught. Therefore, practitioners of Kadampa Buddhism integrate into the Lamrim all the teachings of the Buddha that they have learned by taking them as personal advice and practicing them. Kadampa Buddhists integrate their knowledge of all the Buddha's teachings into their practice of Lamrim, and this into their daily life. In this way, they transform all their activities on the path to enlightenment.
